Fake Flash Memory – Internet Watchdog

Dragon Dakel's Investigation Team. Flash Memory: MPx Players, Memory Cards, USB Pensticks.

About

Welcome to FakeMemorySentinel.

Our site is a member of the FrankenFlash Project. Unlike SOSFakeFlash we do not wait confirmation before issuing a warning on the internet.

In January 2010, after two years of investigation the project released:

Draw your own conclusions.

Since August 2008, SOSFakeFlash has battled fraudulent eBay flash memory sellers. The project estimates less then 1 in 10,000 fake flash memory items is pursued with a dispute – a PayPal claim. According to SOSFakeFlash, buyers find out too late.

Fake flash memory sellers adapt their tactics.

The cycle is endless. By early February 2010, SOSFakeFlash documented over 900+ eBay sellers.

The rules imposed on SOSFakeFlash, while providing solid reputation and credentials is working against victims of fake flash memory. These rules are exploited by fraudulent sellers who are delaying shipments, use multiple item listings, private auctions, email tennis, renaming eBay id’s, using counterfeit rings (multiple eBay id’s), opening new ids to continue when suspended, dump and run (deregistering) – every tactic possible to use the short claim window eBay members have.

The project has formed a new group, the most seasoned fake flash memory hunters with access to SOSFakeFlash’s databases. The objective? Rapid response. The group? FakeMemorySentinel.

FakeMemorySentinel is proactive, addressing the gap between listing of fake flash memory and discovery by buyers.

This new approach is aggressive. Analysis of data, comments from victims; the behavior and tactics of fake flash memory sellers require rapid response to minimize the level of fraud occurring.

For items listed on eBay:  The terms Faulty or Defective are not acceptable for flash memory technology, only Fake or Counterfeit is.  For brand names sellers should contact the brand for assistance and to claim the warranty for their items. It is unethical to offer them for sale on eBay. Faulty and defective will not be tolerated for flash memory.  FakeMemorySentinel puts the public good and consumers before the interest of sellers who are attempting to reclaim their losses at the expense of others.

If you purchase memory cards, mp players or usb flash drives, you should test them ensure you have the advertised capacity before using:

Failure to test can lead to permanent data and file loss if you have a false capacity memory item.

If one of our warnings on an eBay seller led you to this site and your testing confirms false capacity you are advised to report in immediately to SOSFakeFlash using the Report A Fake Tab. SOSFakeFlash will not add the seller into their database, document the seller, or to their confirmed eBay Fakes – Seller Lists unless they receive a report from a victim.

There is no time limit to report to SOSFakeFlash. Read: kentvalleycomputer Ebay Fake Flash Memory Seller – United States. Reported 19 Months After Purchase By Victim To SOSFakeFlash!

Our team does not provide assistance to victims or counselling. We work on early detection and investigation. For help and guidance, please visit SOSFakeFlash at http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/.
